Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of BurnGuard. By creating an account you agree to them.

Early access

BurnGuard is in early access. We work hard to keep it reliable, but features may change, and we provide the service as is. Integrate it so that it fails open: if our API is slow or unavailable, your signups must continue (see our docs).

Your account

You're responsible for your account and for keeping your secret API keys secret. Tell us immediately if a key leaks; you can rotate keys in the dashboard.

Acceptable use

Use BurnGuard to protect your own product from fraud and abuse. Don't use it to discriminate against people on protected characteristics, to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects without human review, to resell raw data, or to probe or overload our service. You must have a lawful basis and a privacy notice covering the data you send us.

Decisions are yours

BurnGuard returns scores, reasons and suggested decisions. You decide what to do with them. We aren't liable for signups you allow or block based on our output.

Plans and billing

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe and renew until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from the billing page; the plan stays active until the end of the period. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. If you exceed your monthly checks, the API keeps returning allow and we may ask you to upgrade.

Data

You own the data you send us. We process it only to provide the service, as described in our Privacy Policy and DPA summary.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 3 months before the claim. We aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits or credits consumed by abusers.

Termination

You can stop using BurnGuard at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms or abuse the service, with notice where reasonable.

Changes

We may update these terms. If changes are material, we'll email you at least 14 days before they take effect.
