Data sources and attribution

Last updated October 29, 2026

BurnGuard combines its own signals (normalization, velocity, device reuse, clustering) with these open datasets. We're grateful to their maintainers.

Disposable email domains

  • Source: disposable-email-domains/disposable-email-domains, about 10,000 domains.
  • License: CC0 1.0 (public domain dedication).
  • We add our own allowlist so mainstream providers are never flagged.

Datacenter and VPN IP ranges

  • Source: X4BNet/lists_vpn (datacenter and VPN IPv4 lists).
  • License: the project states MIT; parts are derived from IPLocate ASN data licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.
  • Attribution: IP range data © X4BNet contributors and IPLocate. We use these lists server-side to classify IPs and don't redistribute them.

Tor exit nodes

  • Source: Tor Project bulk exit list, public data published by the Tor Project.

Device signals

Our browser snippet is written by us. It doesn't use third-party fingerprinting libraries.

Spot an error in a list (for example a legitimate provider flagged as disposable)? Email hello@northlogic.co and we'll fix it for every customer.
